There are 3 ways to travel to make life easy.

  1. Credit card – we only use our credit card in establishments we trust. So we would never use it in a dodgy tourist area where people are selling souvenirs on the side of the road. However, we would use it in a well established tourist district where there is a lot of trade. But, you should always be careful and if it doesn’t feel right, then it probably isn’t.
  2. Travel card – we have loaded cash onto a travel card in the past, and so have been able to have a ready supply of cash withdrawals as we move about. This is the safest way of keeping your cash, and just to be on the safe side, you should have 2 cards in case one is lost.
  3. Cash – it is always a good idea to have a decent supply of cash when you land in a country. This allows you to use taxis, buy train tickets etc. If you can load up your card with plenty of cash, we still think it is much easier and safer to buy purchases with cash rather than card.
