One of the smartest things to do is to create a book which contains absolutely every bit of information you need on your trip. See some hints below as to what would go in your book.
Don’t forget to also include comprehensive contact information for your travel agent, insurance company and embassies that you might need to contact in case of emergencies. You can never be under-prepared.
- Your itinerary from start to finish. Most people do not travel with a comprehensive itinerary, but it is certainly useful as a quick reference guide rather than trying to locate paperwork.
- Your airline tickets, passport and travel insurance. It is always better to have back-up copies of all these important documents.
- If you are on a tour, your tour itinerary. Without this important document you will be lost.
- All confirmations from hotels whether on-line bookings, or in emails.
- It is always handy to do some research on places you are visiting and print out some information that will help you understand its history. A map is also a good idea which identifies key tourist spots.
- Copies of tickets that you booked for sightseeing destinations.
- It is very handy to have copy of subway/train maps for a city, as well as tourist routes when doing sightseeing trips e.g. Hop on-Hop off buses.
